Many new microphones and microphone/preamplifier systems have been added to the rental pool recently. Our full list of microphones is found here. This page provides an overview of each unit with specification highlights:
A pressure microphone measures pressure response, which occurs when the microphone is flush-mounted at the boundary of a sound field. Pressure microphones accurately measure the sound pressure in ducts, cavities, impedance tubes, wind tunnels, and couplers. They are ideal for audiometer calibration, sound level meter measurements, ear simulators, calibration transfer standards, and testing of sound booth noise levels.
Low sound pressure level measurements are possible due to the large surface area and high sensitivity of the Model 377A15 microphone. This 0 V (prepolarized) microphone offers a cost-effective alternative compared to specialty 200 V microphones for making low noise measurements.

The 378A04 is a matched system comprised of a high sensitivity microphone with a low noise preamplifier containing a built-in filter that enables the free-field response to remain flat over a wide frequency range. The system requires a minimum of 4 mA and measures to 6.5 dBA (5.5 dBA typical) within a cost efficient, prepolarized (0 V) design.

Model 377A06 is a 1/2″ (12mm) prepolarized microphone. It has a flat response in applications where high frequencies (up to 40 kHz) need to be measured very accurately. As an alternative to a standard high sensitivity (50 mV/Pa) microphone, it has an enhanced upper dynamic range and doesn’t overload or saturate for measurements above 136 dB. Until now, these applications would require a 1/4″ microphone and preamplifier combination, which is both higher in price and has significantly higher inherent noise than the Model 378A06 microphone and preamplifier system.
Acoustic pressure waves may be altered by objects in the sound field including the microphone used to measure it. To correct for this effect, the Model 377A06 free-field microphone is calibrated to compensate for its own presence, providing more accurate measurements within a free-field.
Key benefits of the Model 377A06 include the ability to measure to 40 kHz (±3 dB), a 3% distortion rating to 160 dB, and a cost effective 1/2″ package that maintains a 20 dBA noise floor.

Model 378A07 is comprised of a 1/2″ 377A07 prepolarized microphone, a Model 426E01 preamplifier, and a low frequency filter adapter, Model 079A43. For applications measuring infrasound (below the human hearing threshold) the Model 378A07 provides the capability to measure less than 0.1 Hz (-3 dB).

Model 130A24 is a 1/2″ (12mm) prepolarized microphone and preamplifier system with a replaceable water and dust resistant cover. This acoustically transparent cover provides an unobtrusive alternative to windscreens and a more consistent response than rubber protective covers. The 130A24 has a wide dynamic range from 30 dBA (inherent noise level) to 150 dB before clipping. This array microphone is equipped with a rugged stainless steel grid cap similar to our high end condenser microphones. The 130A24 is an excellent choice for large channel array microphone applications, outdoor measurements, high humidity applications, or harsh industrial settings where dust or oil splash is a concern.

The Model 377A21 is an industry exclusive 1/2″ random incidence response microphone designed to measure beyond 20 kHz, the maximum frequency of the human hearing range. The 377A21 has a flat response in diffuse field applications where high frequencies need to be measured very accurately in the presence of acoustic reflections. It avoids overload seen when a standard high sensitivity (50 mV/Pa) microphone measures over 136 dB. The 377A21 has the ability to measure to 25 kHz (±2 dB) and to 160 dB in a cost effective 1/2″ package, while maintaining a 19 dBA noise floor.
