This training will discuss in detail the theory behind accelerometer design and development as well as different types of accelerometers and their uses, including:

  • Piezoelectric
  • Piezoresistive
  • Capacitive
  • Shock 

In addition, attendees will learn the calibration methodologies of various vibration sensors, including primary and secondary, shock, low-frequency and high-frequency accelerometers. These techniques are outlined in various international standards, and attendees learn their application in both laboratory and on-site testing environments.

Speaker Bios:

Eric Seller, Calibration Application Engineer

Eric Seller graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering. He originally worked as a software design engineer with The Modal  Shop for 4 years, focusing on smart sensor technology and vibration analysis test equipment. This has been followed by 10 years as an Application Engineer for dynamic metrology applications where he has helped companies with many aspects of their dynamic metrology projects including definition of technical requirements, procedure writing, uncertainty analysis, inter-laboratory comparison programs, and return on investment analysis.

Stephen Bill, Test and Measurement Consultant

Stephen Bill has more than 45 years in product field testing, technical training seminar development, and sales and marketing operations. His background with companies like the U.S. Navy, Acurex Autodata, Anafaze, Kaye Instruments, Endevco, and PCB Piezotronics make him an industry expert in technologies like field testing, data acquisition and rotating machinery telemetry, PID process control systems, transportation, vibration and pressure sensors, acoustics and instrument calibration.
