9100C Provides NIST Traceable, 17025 Compliant Certificates for Vibration Sensors and Proximity Probes

The 9100C Portable Vibration Calibration System from The Modal Shop calibrates vibration sensors and proximity probes, producing NIST-traceable reports that comply with ISO 17025/A2LA requirements.  The lightweight, portable, self-contained 9100C calibrator unit is equipped with its own rechargeable power source, making it ideal for testing in the field.  The calibrator provides a well-known, user-defined reference signal in units of displacement, velocity, and acceleration, suitable for calibrating sensors over wide frequency and amplitude ranges.  The system allows the user maximum flexibility and ease-of-use, using two 10-turn potentiometers to set the test parameters for calibrating sensors in a bandwidth ranging from 10 Hz to 10 kHz, over an amplitude range up to 10 g.  The LCD readout of the shaker amplitude (acceleration, velocity or displacement) and frequency can be displayed in either English or metric units.  With its rugged suspension, the unit can support sensors that weigh up to 750 grams without the aid of an external support mechanism.

Non-contact displacement sensors (i.e. proximity probes, eddy current probes or displacement probes) can be tested for accuracy, linearity and frequency response using the optional S4A-1 proximity probe mounting attachment.

To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test readings, the 9100C applies vibration to both the sensor under test (SUT), and an internal integrated NIST-traceable reference accelerometer, mounted within the unit’s electromagnetic shaker.  The voltage output from the SUT (proper measurement requires appropriate, customer supplied SUT signal conditioning) is then measured with a precision digital multimeter or alternative readout device.  The amplitude and frequency of the internal reference accelerometer signal can be read from the LCD screens on the unit’s front panel for comparison and calculation of SUT sensitivity.  The user can also directly measure the conditioned analog reference signal, if desired, available on a BNC connection located on the unit’s front panel.

The K9100C system provide the calibrator in a kit configuration, that includes a precision, data logging digital multimeter and a variety of mounting accessories, supplied in a rugged instrumentation case.  An MS Excel Visual Basic macro is also included for simplified data entry and automated generation of ISO 17025/A2LA-compliant calibration certificates and reports.  The only additional items required for performing calibrations are sensors themselves with appropriate user-supplied signal conditioning.
