Issue #116, July 2017
Welcome to the July edition of Dynamic Sensors and Calibration Tips. With the summer heat wave we've been experiencing, we found the idea of a wind tunnel test quite refreshing - learn more below. Also, take a few minutes to brush up on calibration best practices in our article "Trust but Verify."
Hypersonic Wind Tunnel Acoustic Pressure Sensors

Hypersonic boundary-layer transition on re-entry vehicles and lifting bodies is not a well-understood phenomenon. During the study of test models in a hypersonic wind tunnel, the presence of small pressure fluctuations can complicate the understanding of the boundary layer transition phenomenon...

Tip of the Month

Dynamic measurements are seldom routine. You can spend
a lifetime in test work and most will still need help at some point with sensor selection, calibration coaching and application use. The sensor specification sheet is the starting point for frequency response, sensitivity and dynamic range.

Blast from the Past:
"Trust But Verify" in Calibration

Remember the old saying, "Trust But Verify"?  This is an extremely applicable axiom in relation to dynamic calibration. It is a good policy to have a number of layers of verification integral to both the calibration system and the operation process...
