Rental Services Program Supports Discovery Channels Mythbusters

The Modal Shop, a PCB Group Company, recently supplied The Discovery Channel’s popular science series Mythbusters with vibration test equipment for the Dumpster Diving episode.  In this episode, the show hosts Jamie and Adam instrument Buster the Dummy with PCB model 356A02 triaxial ICP® piezoelectric accelerometers to measure impact shock levels induced by “typical” 4 story jump into a dumpster filled with trash, determine the probability for survival and bust the myth commonly seen in getaway scenes of action movies where the action hero hops out after the fall and escapes from the villain.

The Modal Shop has been offering sound and vibration test equipment rental services for nearly two decades.  A broad range of ICP® accelerometers and microphones are available in channel counts from one to over one hundred.  Companion multichannel FFT based data acquisition, as well as recorders, Sound Level Meters and dosimeters are also stocked with application software to provide turnkey solutions to common sound and vibration application challenges.  Rental and lease from The Modal Shop are always configurable as standalone components (just the sensors and/or signal conditioning) or as complete measurement systems and are most often available for next day delivery.  The program provides well-maintained and calibrated instrumentation for short term testing needs or for times when capital budgets just aren’t what they used to be.  As with TMS products, all rental services are backed by the PCB Group Total Customer Satisfaction Policy, which guarantees satisfaction or your money refunded.
