The Modal Shop, Inc., a PCB Group Company, announces the release of Model 2129E025, a new long stroke calibration shaker for low frequency calibration of accelerometers. Serving the vibration community for over 40 years, PCB Group focuses on both continuing innovation and process simplification. The new long stroke shaker improves low frequency accelerometer calibration down to 0.1 Hz. Increased stroke length, patent pending precision optical reference sensor and integrated shaker protection features, combined with a 10 to 1 reduction in calibration time, make the 2129E025 an excellent addition to any calibration laboratory. The 2129E025 is easily integrated with The Modal Shop’s market leading turnkey 9155 Accelerometer Calibration Workstation to become Option 9155D-779.
The 2129E025 offers a maximum stroke length of 10 inches (25cm), a 60% increase over the traditional stroke length of 6.25 inches (16 cm). A built in precision optical reference sensor coupled with a servo controlled feedback system manages shaker position in real-time. Linear motor technology has eliminated the need for the traditional elastic band suspension system. The long stroke shaker offers integrated over-temperature, over-current, over-travel, and over-force protection. These protection features keep shaker operation safe and efficient, enabling calibrations up to 10 times faster than those currently possible with existing long stroke electrodynamic shakers.
PCB Group’s participation in the ISO 16063 TC108 working group for international accelerometer calibration drives a focus on improved accelerometer calibration methodologies. In addition to this improved low frequency calibration technique, PCB and The Modal Shop have developed innovative technologies for a variety of accelerometer calibration solutions. A complete line of precision quartz ICP™ reference and transfer standards are available. The K394A31 air bearing shaker provides optimal performance for accelerometer calibrations compliant with ISO 16063 Part 11 and 21 and is capable of resonance search to 50 kHz. The PneuShock™ high-g actuator allows back-to-back shock calibration to 10 kg compliant with ISO 16063 Part 22. The laser primary system provides dual beam, dual pass primary calibrations compliant with ISO 16063 Part 11. Transverse sensitivity calibration systems are also available.
